CGNA Board Asks For The Return of Cell Tower Funds

 Our Neighborhood has two cell towers:

 Verizon:           2015 annual revenue = $ 21,663.54

 AT&T:            2015 annual revenue = $ 21,905.64

The College-Glen Neighborhood Association Board has asked the Mayor and each individual Councilmember that the City’s budget for 2016/17 include a provision to begin the process of returning the cell tower revenues that were redirected from neighborhood accounts back to the neighborhood accounts that they were redirected from. (See attached letter to Mayor Johnson)  The City’s new Independent Budget analyst, John Silva, has confirmed that the City has regained “fiscal sustainability” and Mayor Johnson stated at his February 3^rd “Mayor’s Community Leaders Budget Workshop” that the City closed out the FY 2014/15 with a 4.8 Million dollar surplus.

The Association Board believes that it is time to begin the process of returning all of the redirected funds taken from the community cell tower funds back to the respective neighborhood’s special accounts.

We have documentation dating back to 1996 that support our community rights to these funds and that the intent was for cell tower proceeds to be used “on or near the facility or property for which a permit has been granted”.   We believes that it is important for the integrity of the City that the intent as set forth by the Park’s Citizens Advisory Committee and approved by Mayor Joe Serna Jr., Interim Mayor Jimmie Yee, and Mayor Heather Fargo and established in Resolution 2002-342 be restored and honored.   The community needs to know that a neighborhood agreement entered into with the City will be honored.  Please review the documents below and attend the:

This has been our primary source of funds for our parks and community improvements for the past 19 years.  We will review the related documents with the community and invite you to join us in our effort to recover our lost cell tower funds and access to all future revenues from our two cell towers.
